How to have a header only on the first page in Word

Here is another issue I had to look up twice!

So, you've created your document in Word are are finishing everything off. You add your header but then decide it looks too crowded against the text. Maybe adding a header to only the first page will look really well. But uh oh...!

I've seen posts on the internet with people been driven mad about how they are unable to have a header only on the first page of their document. Like many of the tips and tutorials on this Blog, it's very easy to do once you know how!

Let's begin.

1. Open your document in Word.

Note: if you have added your header already, go to the Insert tab, click the Header tab and click Remove Header.

My header and footer have now been removed.

2. Click the Header button again and select Edit Header.

Note: It is important that you do not select a header style yet.

3.  Before you type a header; check the Different First Page checkbox.

And voilĂ ! You now have your header on only the first page of your document! Success!

Easy when you know how eh?
